The year 2020 was unlike any other in memory, as investors had to grapple with a global pandemic, social unrest, nationwide stay-at-home orders, a deep recession, and unprecedented monetary and fiscal responses.
All the while, markets suffered the fastest 35% decline in history off of record highs in February, only to stage a dramatic recovery back to new all-time highs in just 145 days — the fastest recovery in history.
Several key questions remain. Have we exited the stay-at-home recession? What will the shape of the recovery look like? What is the path forward for a stock market at all-time highs? What are the long-term implications of the pandemic? And how will the market respond to the election outcome?
