Rated 5 out of 5 by mcoli Fidelity enters the modern age
I am a trader of stocks long and short. I hold a stock for any where from a day to several months. Active Trader Pro gives me up to the second last, bid and ask information to enter my orders at precise points. It gives me easy to use charts and information on resistance/support for any stock. It is easy to watch many stocks at a time and bring up all information on a stock with a single click. I can see info on another stock with just one other click. Active Trader Pro is the best and most intuitive trading platform I have used. When I first started trading back in 1996 I lost a sizable inheritance just trading with a broker that turned out to be dishonest. With Fidelity I get honesty, integrity and convenience. My trading skills have increased since using Active Trader Pro.

It is fast easy and versatile. The ability to switch from stock to stock, to options or have them all at the same time make it very quick to see what you want. I am just learning some of the option tools but have used them enough to see the help in evaluation and trading advantage. The presentation is easily customizable with terrific contrast and readability. I enjoy using at home, work and on the go.

Before I used ATP I was paying for multiple programs to do what ATP has included. My trading needs have all been met with one program. Outstanding program for the active trader.

All the 1 star reviews about perfomance issues please check you system specs before bashing the platform. If your having lag issues on volume spike like market open or close make sure you have the RECOMMEND processor and RAM. The 10.X version requires significantly more power than the older 9.6 version.
That being said. The new version is great. Finally have options summary, trading from chart. Adjust gain/loss for wash sales. Back testing, albeit only on covered calls but its improving.
Charts are good, though the indicators take a lot of screen space which can be a slight annoyance.
Ability to customize layout and have 20 windows.
I love this platform and while it does require a faster computer (but what doesn't these days) it is far better than 9.6

I like ATP. The quotes are really great, and I have a chart displayed at the same time so I can go beyond just seeing what the stock is doing but am able to see the big picture, I'm a scholar of Japanese Candlestick Charting. I go in at the opening and review Fidelity % gainers and prospects I've picked up from other websites, maybe 7 or 8 stocks. It's comprehensive, everything you want to know is there for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by tommyboy46 It's GREAT !!
I use ATP every day. I monitor the market and my stock portfolio in relation to the markets. I use many of the features the site has to offer, like, charting, research, and trading. In the charting function, I play around with length of time, moving average indicators, bollinger bands, and RSI, just to name a few. There is still so much more for me to learn about the site and I am looking forward to further exploring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by hblack3 Excellent product
I have used Bloomberg since inception (I actually used Quotron before that but don't tell anybody). I moved to an Investment Adviser role in the last 6 mos and do not have access to BB anymore. I didn't think I could live without it until I tried Active Trader Pro. Your product is excellent. I speak w/ you desk about 2X a week with suggestions. For me the areas to improve which would be most helpful to me would be in portfolio analytics ex. ability to do monthly "marks" and return analysis based on those, incorporating dividends into returns, basic asset allocation pie charts etc.. Otherwise you are on a super track and I especially like the responsiveness of your help desk. The men and woman there are great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Spider Tom Outstanding trading platform
I have been using ATP since it was first introduced and every upgrade has far exceeded my expectations. The present version allows easy trading of some complicated trades and options.
I love Trade Armor!!!!!. Instead of having to enter two orders for OCO to protect your down side and still allowing some upside.
Technical response has always been excellent.
Thanks Fidelity ATP.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ArizonaAl Easy access to tools
ATP provides easy access to the outstanding array of Fidelity analysis tools, external reports, and current market activity. This is in addition to comprehensive tools for tracking individual and aggregate account information and performance. The capabilities for trading and the performance of the trading system are excellent. In spite of all its capabilities, it is generally easy to navigate as well.

I use ATP daily. As a retiree, I generate income to supplement our retirement, so I am an active trader. I like the ease and speed of trading and the simplicity of the screens. I also like the Trade Armor product which gives me insight into various positions and what levels I should expect to trade at.
I also like the ability to customize screens. I set my screen up to reflect my favorite stocks, and positions. It works flawlessly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by BB2020 Won't Work On Mac
Despite Fidelity's claims that this will work on Mac platform, it does not. After installing Silverlight and restarting browser and opening ATP, all you get is a white screen. This issue has been well documented by others for many months (going back to 2015) and yet Fidelity has not fixed the problem and continues to claim Mac compatibility.

Rated 4 out of 5 by sheldon Keyboard shortcuts would change the ballgame.
Fidelity Active Trader Pro, when you run it as a Windows binary program, rather than the web app, is a modestly well-done mostly bug free experience with quick-enough data for 99% of trader use cases.
The 'trade ideas' are poorly presented, and modeled, but ultimately the data is accurate and useful.
The one thing it is missing is keyboard shortcuts. I would give just about anything to have a way to press CTRL+T to open a new chart with the Ticker box ready for keyboard input. Navigation, quick navigation, is what is most critical in any financial services app. It is this insight in the Bloomberg Keyboard which ultimately has given Bloomberg the unbeatable edge in high end financial data. Fidelity would do well to counteract this with a robust set of customizable keyboard shortcuts to every feature of ATP.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Eppic Horrible, sluggish, always crashes
ATP is pretty much a disaster. It has become bloated and slow, is not intuitive, and crashes several times per day (sometimes several times per hour). Layouts are difficult to manage, updates are slow (why two weeks to give updated return info)? This very poor platform is a primary reason I have moved most of my assets to another firm and will likely move the remainder.

Rated 2 out of 5 by beavis Program has issues
ATP is a great platform . . when I can use it!! I am experiencing significant problems with the program since the recent update. Either it will not load when I hit the desktop icon, or it will just disappear while I'm using it. Then, I must delete the program from my computer, and re-load it! It's VERY frustrating! I have brought this issue to Fidelity's attention. I presume, and hope, they're working to resolve this problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ron Good with Qualifications
According to AAII, most of their investors watch their investment portfolios on a relatively frequent basis. I am among those who do and the ATP platform allows me to do that nicely. I utilize three monitors and can watch 18 graphs and the main panel simultaneously. The ability to select various timeframes, observe patterns, couple offline research to online purchases at opportune times, and connect to the main Fidelity home page are very helpful. One "WATCH OUT" feature is the trading box. While generally decent, be aware that bumping your scroll bar can inadvertently change the Quantity selected. There was not covered in any of the Fidelity directions. This caused a problem, Fidelity was notified, the issue continues. Also, frequently, when one attempts to access the main Fidelity site through ATP using the Accounts Summary under "Accounts", it will not connect. Not exactly sure why. At any rate, generally ATP is a good program getting better. Be careful out there!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Txjeff Stability issues version 10.6
Been using it on an Acer Aspire Win 7 laptop that is relatively new with plenty of resources. I've used version 10.6 of AT for about 2 weeks now. I've had total program lockup after a few hours of running requiring End Task. And I've had trades that Preview goes no where but a circling cursor. So the trade to sell isn't placed. This has cost me money having to chase to the web version to place the trade minutes later. I do like the real time aspects, as long as it keeps running.

Rated 4 out of 5 by fanis Excellent! Wish there was a mac download version
I've tried several platforms out there and I really like white Active Trader has to offer. Love the charts layouts (very clear) and watchlists. My only concern and it's a big on is the fact that they don't have a download version for the mac. Would have made a huge difference. Unfortunately the web one is too slow sometimes, and as you all now that is among the most important factors when it comes to trading. I hope they will fix it soon.

Rated 1 out of 5 by crquixote Doesn't Work on Mac - El Captain
I tried this both in Safari and Chrome and cannot get it to work at all. Attending today's ATP presentation was a waste of time since all I get is a white screen. There is no option to download an OS X version of this software either.

Rated 1 out of 5 by dave i give up
Using my desktop Mac, it doesn't work from the fidelity website or going to "activetraderpro.com" (where there is no link at all!) I was able to access everything but the charts with my previous safari browser, but since upgrading to mountain lion all I get is a white screen. I have 4 gigs of memory and 864 gigs of free space. If this is an issue of fidelity only supporting PC's that's frustrating. in the end, it is probably my fault, but my mobile devices have also had issues with fidelitys mobile site (links just not working anymore). Fidelity needs to have a page that outlines specifically when this software will work, and when it will not. It should not be that hard, I feel like I am getting pulled around in a circle. Seriously, good luck.

Rated 2 out of 5 by PB Please have someone write for Mac
I have watched this program become less and less stable as the Silverlight program ages. I assume that Mac users are in the minority; on the other hand, if I can't trade at all because the software refuses to interface well, then Fidelity ought to take care to address the issues that prevent it from working.
And I should say that I am computer savvy, and that customer service, while trying hard to help, has been unable to
provide any information beyond what I already possessed (uninstall, clean up, reinstall, lather, rinse, repeat).

Rated 1 out of 5 by Hiker Notebook is not Note
The new ATP option "Notebook" replaces "Note" with the loss of many of Note's features. With Note I can enter a note for a symbol in a particular watchlist and then a different note for the same symbol in another watchlist. With Notebook if a symbol appears in more than one watchlist the note is simultaneously attached to all instances of that symbol which is not what I want. Notebook is a "one size fits all" approach that could be useful in certain circumstances but definitely not all.
To view a note with Notebook one has to either open the Notebook or place the cursor on the Notebook icon. This is usually a very slow process due to more "clicks" than needed for Note and the slowness of Fidelity's computer (watch the spining circle). In contrast to this Note permits notes to be quickly scanned for an entire watchlist. Note is simple and quick and is often all that is required.
Notebook does not replace Note and Fidelity should give users the option to either use Note or Notebook or both.
