-
What are the fees for trading crypto?
Fidelity Digital Assets® charges a 1% fee for buy and sell transactions in Fidelity Crypto® accounts and Fidelity Crypto® IRAs. If you have an account through Fidelity Crypto® for Wealth Managers, review your customer agreement and contact your advisor or intermediary for details. Fees are subject to change.
-
How are crypto trading fees calculated?
Fidelity Digital Assets® calculates the trading fee on buy and sell transactions as 1% of the market value of executed orders. If you buy or sell in dollar amounts, the quantity of crypto is adjusted so that you spend or receive the dollar amount you specified. If you buy or sell in quantities of crypto, the dollar amount is adjusted so that you buy or sell the crypto quantity you specified.
-
Does the crypto trading fee affect execution prices?
The crypto trading fee doesn't affect the price of your orders' executions. Fidelity Digital Assets® fills crypto orders through trusted liquidity providers, using smart order routing technology to find the best available execution price for your trade.
-
How are crypto buy orders in dollar amounts affected by fees?
When you enter a crypto buy order in a dollar amount, the quantity of crypto you purchase is reduced so the total cost of your order (including the 1% fee) won't exceed the dollar amount you entered. The trading fee won't exceed 1% of the market value of your executed order. For example, a $2,500 buy order of BTC that fills at a price of $100,000 would result in a purchase of 0.0247525 BTC (market value of $2,475.25) with a fee of $24.75 and a total cost of $2,500.
-
How are crypto buy orders in crypto quantity affected by fees?
When you enter a crypto buy order in crypto quantity, the total cost of the purchase is the market value of the crypto (the quantity multiplied by the price when it executes) plus the 1% fee, and your purchase won't exceed the crypto quantity you entered. The trading fee won't exceed 1% of the market value of your executed order. For example, a buy order of 1 ETH that fills at a price of $3,500 would result in a purchase of 1 ETH (market value of $3,500) with a fee of $35 and a total cost of $3,535.
-
How are crypto sell orders in dollar amounts affected by fees?
When you enter a crypto sell order in a dollar amount, the quantity of crypto you sell is increased so the total proceeds of your order (including the 1% fee) are at least the dollar amount you entered. The trading fee won't exceed 1% of the market value of your executed order. For example, a $2,500 sell order of BTC that fills at a price of $100,000 would result in a sale of 0.02525 BTC (market value of $2,525) with a fee of $25 and total proceeds of $2,500.
-
How are crypto sell orders in crypto quantity affected by fees?
When you enter a crypto sell order in crypto quantity, the total proceeds of the sale is the market value of the crypto (the quantity multiplied by the price when it executes) minus the 1% fee, and your sale won’t exceed the crypto quantity you entered. The trading fee won't exceed 1% of the market value of your executed order. For example, a sell order of 1 ETH that fills at a price of $3,500 would result in a sale of 1 ETH (market value of $3,500) with a fee of $35 and total proceeds of $3,465.
-
Why did I receive more than the dollar amount I entered for a crypto sell order?
When you enter a limit order to sell a dollar amount of crypto, you might receive more if Fidelity Digital Assets® is able to get a higher price. The dollar amount of the sell order is converted to a quantity of crypto based on your limit price and the total proceeds you requested. If the price improves compared to your limit, your proceeds increase.
-
Why did I spend less than the dollar amount I entered for a crypto buy order?
When you enter a limit order to buy a dollar amount of crypto, you might spend less if Fidelity Digital Assets® is able to get a lower price. The dollar amount is converted to a quantity of crypto based on your limit price and the total cost you requested. If the price improves compared to your limit, your cost decreases.
-
Is the crypto trading fee affected by partial executions?
For any order that receives a partial execution, the trading fee won't exceed 1% of the market value of the executed order. Any unfilled portion of the order will expire, and no trading fee is applied to that portion.
-
Where can I find the trading fee on completed crypto trades?
When a crypto trade executes, you will receive a transaction confirmation that includes information about the trading fee. Details will also be available in your account statements. Transaction records for trades executed before December 4, 2025, won't show a separate fee because the 1% fee was previously included in the price as a spread.
-
Why aren't fees appearing on my crypto trades?
Transaction records for trades executed before December 4, 2025, won’t show a separate fee because the 1% fee was previously included in the price as a spread. For trades placed in the Fidelity Investments® app, make sure you are using the latest version so trading fees appear correctly.
-
How does the crypto trading fee affect cost basis?
The trading fee on a crypto purchase is included in the cost basis of the tax lot. The trading fee on a crypto sale reduces the amount of proceeds received as reported in Form 1099-DA instead of affecting the cost basis.
-
Why does the crypto trading fee appear higher on some lots?
For crypto trades placed in dollar amounts, the amount of the fee can appear higher than 1% for buy and sell orders that executed in multiple lots with very small quantities. The trading fee is calculated as 1% for the entire order value, so a total of all fees for the lots in the order will equal 1%.
