  • How do Fidelity Crypto® trade orders execute?

Trade orders are executed with trusted Fidelity Crypto® liquidity providers. Liquidity providers are selected using smart order routing technology, allowing Fidelity Crypto® to find the best available execution price for your trade. In some cases, Fidelity Digital Assets® may fill your order with multiple executions across multiple liquidity providers.

  • Why hasn't my limit order filled in my Fidelity Crypto® account?

If you placed a limit order to buy or sell and the market hasn't met your limit price, your order will remain in an open status. Unfilled lots in a limit order that aren't met before market close will automatically expire. Your limit order will execute when Fidelity Digital Assets® is able to buy or sell at the price you selected. Market quotes and price alerts may not match the pricing available to Fidelity Digital Assets®.

  • Why did my Fidelity Crypto® order fill in multiple executions?

Fidelity Crypto® uses smart order routing technology to find the best available execution price for your trade. This means Fidelity Digital Assets® may fill your order with multiple executions across multiple liquidity providers.

  • Why is the price on my Fidelity Crypto® order screen different from the final buy/sell price?

Your review screen has an "Estimated value" which can fluctuate based on market movement between order and execution. You'll have the exact price in your order details once your trade completes.

  • Why did I receive more than the dollar amount I entered for a crypto sell order?

When you enter a limit order to sell a dollar amount of crypto, you might receive more if Fidelity Digital Assets® is able to get a higher price. The dollar amount of the sell order is converted to a quantity of crypto based on your limit price and the total proceeds you requested. If the price improves compared to your limit, your proceeds increase.

  • Why did I spend less than the dollar amount I entered for a crypto buy order?

When you enter a limit order to buy a dollar amount of crypto, you might spend less if Fidelity Digital Assets® is able to get a lower price. The dollar amount is converted to a quantity of crypto based on your limit price and the total cost you requested. If the price improves compared to your limit, your cost decreases.

  • Is the crypto trading fee affected by partial executions?

For any order that receives a partial execution, the trading fee won't exceed 1% of the market value of the executed order. Any unfilled portion of the order will expire, and no trading fee is applied to that portion.

  • Why was a trade canceled in my Fidelity Crypto® account?

On rare occasions, trade orders can be canceled in Fidelity Crypto® accounts due to operations, market, or liquidity reasons. If you received a notification that your order has been canceled, you can review your order history to confirm if there were any partial fills on the canceled order. You can submit a new order for your intended trade.

  • How are tax lots paired with sell orders in Fidelity Crypto® accounts?

By default, executed sell orders in Fidelity Crypto® accounts are paired to tax lots in the order you purchased your crypto (first in, first out or FIFO method) unless you specify lots when placing your sell order. Check with a tax advisor to determine how crypto transactions could affect your taxes. Fidelity does not provide legal or tax advice.

  • Can I change which lots are specified in an open crypto sell order?

You can't change the specified lots in an open crypto sell order. You would need to cancel the open order and enter a new sell order with your new specified lots.

  • Where can I find the trading fee on completed crypto trades?

When a crypto trade executes, you will receive a transaction confirmation that includes information about the trading fee. Details will also be available in your account statements. Transaction records for trades executed before December 4, 2025, won't show a separate fee because the 1% fee was previously included in the price as a spread.

  • Why aren't fees appearing on my crypto trades?

Transaction records for trades executed before December 4, 2025, won’t show a separate fee because the 1% fee was previously included in the price as a spread. For trades placed in the Fidelity Investments® app, make sure you are using the latest version so trading fees appear correctly.

  • Why does the crypto trading fee appear higher on some lots?

For crypto trades placed in dollar amounts, the amount of the fee can appear higher than 1% for buy and sell orders that executed in multiple lots with very small quantities. The trading fee is calculated as 1% for the entire order value, so a total of all fees for the lots in the order will equal 1%.
