Balance definitions

The "Total account value" is the market value of all positions in the account, including core, minus any outstanding debit balances and any amount required to cover short option positions that are in-the-money. This is the primary current value of your account and is labeled with your account number and nickname on Fidelity.com.

"Available to trade" is the amount available to purchase securities in a cash account without adding more money to the account. Buy orders will reduce this value (at the time the order is placed), and executed Sell orders will increase this value (at the time the order executes).

"Settled cash" is the portion of your cash (core) and secondary money markets balance that represents the amount you can buy and sell of a security in a cash account without creating a good faith violation. This amount includes proceeds from transactions settling today minus unsettled buy transactions, short equity proceeds settling today and the intraday exercisable value of option positions. Additionally, uncollected deposits may not be reflected in this balance until the deposit has gone through a hold period.

"Committed to open orders" refers to the dollar amount allocated to pending orders that have not yet been executed (e.g., buy orders). The amount you have committed to open orders decreases your cash available to trade.

"Cash reserved for options strategies" refers to the amount of money needed to cover requirements for all options strategies, including uncovered calls/puts, cash covered puts and spread requirements. The reserve for short put option contracts in a cash account is calculated by multiplying the option's strike price by the number of contracts purchased and then by the number of shares per contract (usually 100). This value reduces the cash available to buy securities, withdraw, or use for other purposes. In simpler terms, it's the money set aside to ensure you can fulfill your obligations if the options you sold are assigned.

"Available to withdraw" is the amount collected and available for immediate withdrawal. This balance includes both core and other Fidelity money market funds held in the account. This balance does not include deposits that have not cleared. Sell orders are reflected in this balance on settlement date and Buy orders are reflected on trade date.

An "Uncollected deposit" is a recent deposit that hasn't gone through the required hold period. Though a portion of the funds may be available for trading, an uncollected deposit may not be withdrawn and cannot be transferred, whether internally at Fidelity or to an external account.

"Cash and credits" refers to the aggregate cash position used for settling trades and managing money movements. This includes core funds, other eligible Fidelity money market funds, and pending credits or debits for unsettled activity. When you execute buy orders or make cash withdrawals, the balance decreases.

Conversely, when you execute sell orders or make cash deposits, the "Cash and credits" balance increases. In simpler terms, it's the main value where your trading and cash activities are tracked, with buys and withdrawals reducing the balance, and sells and deposits increasing it.

A "Net debit" (negative value) is a final amount that is borrowed from Fidelity in the account at settlement. When this balance turns positive, the label turns into “Cash and credits.”

A "Cash credit" (positive value) reflects a credit from unsettled trades or deposits that hasn't yet moved into the core account. In some cases, "Cash credits" may not be transferred to your core account, in which case the "Cash credit" balance will include both amounts credited to the account from unsettled activity and un-swept settled cash balances.

"Cash market value" refers to the total market value of all long positions (stocks you own) in your cash account. It excludes the value of any in-the-money covered options and doesn't include cash held in the core money market. This balance only displays when it is not $0.

"Option market value" refers to the market value of all long and short option positions held in the account. This balance only displays when it is not $0.
