J.M. Smucker among the 3 newcomers to Dividend Aristocrats

Three companies have been added to the S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats Index, an elite group when it comes to dividend longevity.
The Aristocrats, which will number 67 with its new members, have paid out a higher dividend each year for at least 25 straight years.
The newcomers are J.M. Smucker (
There were no deletions to the index. The changes were announced on Tuesday after the market closed.
J.M Smucker’s signature products include jam and jelly. C.H. Robinson Worldwide handles logistics for customers, including freight. And Nordson ‘s products include coatings and sealants.
Longtime members of the S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats Index include blue-chip names such as Johnson & Johnson (
Last year the Aristocrats held up relatively well in a difficult market for stocks amid sharply rising interest rates and ultra-high inflation—testament to their durable businesses.
The S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats Index returned minus 6% in 2022, dividends included, compared with minus 18% for the S&P 500 (
J.M. Smucker’s stock was recently yielding 2.7%, C.H. Robinson Worldwide’s was at 2.5%, and Nordson’s was at 1.1%.
