Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Getting started

Remember the majority of what we discuss here describes a developing program, but we’d like to provide you with some information about our proposed services.

  • What is this experience?

We're working hard to create an online investment management program for retirees, specifically designed to help them manage their investments in retirement. It will be designed for retirees age 55+ with individual investable assets across multiple account types, filing their taxes as single or married filing jointly.

  • Why does Fidelity have a pilot program?

This pilot is a limited usability test made available to certain Fidelity customers and is not currently available to the public.

We need your help. As we work to develop this offering, we’re testing it with a limited number of users like yourself. There is no fee for participating.

  • What will you do with the information I provide?

The information you provide here will be used for this pilot program and to provide you with hypothetical planning information. You should not rely on the simulations, modeling tools, and resources made available during this experience to make any investment, withdrawal, or tax decisions. Any resources made available to you will not automatically update any profile information Fidelity may already have about you or your Fidelity accounts, and does not impact other guidance you may receive from Fidelity through other resources, tools, or services.

  • What if I decide that I don’t want to participate?

This is an invitation and you’re not required to participate. Please email us at to be removed from our list.

  • Will I be eligible for this service when it becomes available?

If and when we do launch it, you’ll be eligible if you file your taxes single or married filing jointly and are a US resident age 55. We’re hoping to offer this for other tax filing statuses in the future.

To take full advantage of our future capabilities, we suggest that you have at least 2 account types (taxable, tax-deferred, tax-exempt) and more than $200,000 saved for retirement.

Currently, we’re only offering this pilot access to a limited number of users.

  • What account types will be eligible to create a plan?

Once you click Get Started and go through the planning process, we’re able to pull your Fidelity accounts and flag any accounts that aren’t eligible, such as a 529 for college savings. You’re able to input your accounts outside of Fidelity as well to get a hypothetical plan for your retirement.

  • How will I be able to get help?

If you need help during the pilot, please email us at

  • How do I participate, and how long does it take?

You can create a free, personalized, sample plan from our website by clicking Get Started. It takes about 15-20 minutes, but it might take longer if you need to go searching for information. There’s no need to finish in one sitting—we’ll save your information, so you can pick up where you left off later.

If you file your taxes married filing jointly, and your partner is also a Fidelity customer, they’ll be able to log in so we can pull their accounts or you can enter them manually.

  • Will there be a minimum?

There’s no minimum to participate in the pilot study.

We have yet to determine if the program will have an investment minimum.

  • Will I be able to join if I live outside of the United States?

    Unfortunately, no.

  • Will I be able cancel or revoke access to a planning partner at any time?

If you need to cancel or revoke access to a planning partner at any time, please email us at Please include your planning partner’s name in the email if revoking access.

  • What if I forgot my password?

Don’t worry, you’ll be able to retrieve it. From the login page, click ‘Forgot login?’ and follow the steps to verify your identity and reset your password.
