Mobile devices are playing an increasing role in how people access and manage their finances. The number of mobile check deposits made to Fidelity Investments has increased 140% in the last three years, and now represents more than one third of all checks coming in to Fidelity. Mobile trades made on Fidelity’s mobile applications have also grown exponentially in the last three years, up 160%.*
"Financially-focused mobile apps provide investors a convenient way to keep tabs on the markets and discover new ways to invest," said Velia Carboni, Fidelity's Senior Vice President of Mobile Technologies. "Today's mobile users expect companies to know them and to deliver customized, highly relevant content that helps them stay on top of their finances and generate new investing ideas on the go."
Fidelity has a history of digital innovation. The firm's newest round of mobile updates was developed in response to customer feedback indicating they'd also like to use the app as a discovery platform—beyond monitoring performance, transferring money and making trades. It provides a customized feed that delivers news and market information based on the user's investments, watch lists, and recent research.
