Fidelity Clearing Canada Extends Broker Access to Research and Syndication Functions

Signs Trapeze Asset Management and Versant Partners onto Clearing Platform

BOSTON and TORONTO -- Fidelity Clearing Canada® ULC, part of National Financial®, a Fidelity Investments® company, today announced the implementation of a syndication processing platform and access to market research tools via Streetscape®, National Financial’s broker workstation.

Fidelity Clearing Canada also announced it has converted two new broker-dealer clients, Trapeze Asset Management and Versant Partners, onto its clearing platform. With the addition of these firms, Fidelity Clearing Canada has now established relationships with 12 Canadian broker-dealers since the launch of the business in September of 2009.

The market research tool is designed to increase access to timely financial news and information, helping to improve broker efficiency, while the syndication processing platform, which facilitates new issue distribution and reporting capabilities, enables brokers to better serve the interests of their investor clients.

“These new enhancements will play a significant role in helping our clients augment broker recruiting as well as drive cost and operational efficiencies,” said William J. (Bill) Henderson, CEO of Fidelity Clearing Canada. “This also reflects a commitment to continually improve the overall client experience by investing in the technology and resources that will help broker-dealers continue to deliver the best products and services to their investor clients.”

Research and Syndication Expands Broker Access and Insights
The syndication processing system will add functional efficiencies and streamline ticketing and reporting capabilities for Fidelity Clearing Canada’s broker-dealer clients, as well as provide their investment advisors with a tool that will allow them to better manage their client expressions of interest for new issue product.

As part of Fidelity Clearing Canada’s new market research tool Streetscape®, clients can now access coverage and analysis on 435 Canadian companies by leading research firms including Ford Research, Thomson Reuters and Stifel Nicolaus.

New Clients Build on Fidelity Clearing Canada’s Continued Growth
Fidelity Clearing Canada’s new broker-dealer clients are Trapeze Asset Management, Inc., a Canadian investment dealer providing discretionary portfolio management for institutions and high-net-worth individuals, and Versant Partners, an investment bank serving institutional money managers and Canadian growth companies.

“We are proud to be working with a clearing firm that has demonstrated a commitment to servicing the IIROC1 community with progressive technologies,” said Randall Abramson, CEO of Trapeze. “The new relationship with Fidelity Clearing Canada affords us real-time systems, correspondent-level customization and a host of new services that we expect will enhance the satisfaction and experience of our clients.”

Under the new agreements, Fidelity Clearing Canada will provide Trapeze and Versant with comprehensive back-office support, such as securities execution and clearing.

In addition, both firms will have access to Fidelity Clearing Canada’s extensive suite of tools and resources for brokers including dedicated client service, an open-architecture brokerage technology platform and global trading capabilities.

“As we continue to attract and convert clients, the industry is recognizing the strength, stability and flexibility of our platform and the distinct value proposition it provides for a wide range of broker-dealers in Canada,” said Henderson.
