Fidelity Investments Adds Two New Deferred Income Annuities From Guardian And Principal

New Deferred Income Annuities Can Help Investors Secure Future Retirement Income

BOSTON – Fidelity Investments today announced it has expanded its deferred income annuity offering to include new products from Guardian and the Principal Financial Group®. With individuals living longer and becoming increasingly responsible for generating retirement income from their own personal savings, demand for strategies and products that provide future guaranteed lifetime income is growing.

Guardian’s SecureFuture Income AnnuitySMi and the Principal Deferred Income Annuityii are the two newest deferred income annuities in The Fidelity Insurance NetworkSMiii portfolio, joining MassMutual’s RetireEase ChoiceSMiv and New York Life’s Guaranteed Future Income Annuity IIv. Ideal for investors approaching retirement, these products offer predictable, guaranteed lifetime income beginning on a future date the investor selects in return for a lump-sum investment. By purchasing a deferred income annuity several years before retirement, investors have the opportunity to turn a portion of their savings into a stream of income payments for the rest of their lives.

“Investor interest in guaranteed income solutions that deliver a steady cash flow in retirement has grown in recent years,” said Brett Wollam, senior vice president, Fidelity Investments Life Insurance Company®. “By adding these new products to The Fidelity Insurance Network, we are providing investors with access to a broader variety of solutions to help them maximize and protect their retirement income.”

In addition to deferred income annuities, Fidelity also provides access to a range of immediate income annuities through The Fidelity Insurance Networkvii.

New Education and Resources for Investors
To help investors determine whether a deferred income annuity can help meet their individual needs and understand how it can fit into their overall retirement income plan, Fidelity developed a new Viewpoints article on creating future retirement income. Resources also are available on Fidelity.com, including an educational video and brochure that explains how the annuity works.
