National Business Group on Health Honors Fidelity® with Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® Award
Fidelity Recognized for Promoting Healthy Workplace and LifestylesWASHINGTON – The National Business Group on Health (NBGH), a non-profit association of large U.S. employers, today honored Fidelity Investments® for its ongoing commitment and dedication to promoting a healthy workplace and encouraging employees and their families to pursue and maintain healthy lifestyles.
Fidelity was among 65 U.S. employers that received the 2013 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® award at a Leadership Summit held today in Washington, D.C. and sponsored by the NBGH’s Institute on Innovation in Workforce Well-being.
Fidelity received a Gold Award for its commitment to offering a variety of programs and resources to help its more than 41,000 employees and their families manage their health and maintain work/life balance, among other benefits programs. This marks the first year Fidelity has received a Healthy Lifestyles® award. Now in its ninth year, the awards spotlight employers that have responded to the urgent need to improve their employees’ health, productivity and quality of life.
Unrelated to this award, Fidelity and the NBGH have partnered on a survey each year since 2009 to analyze the growth of health-improvement plans among corporate employers. In addition to an increase in the average amount employers plan to spend on wellness incentives, the most recent survey (February 2013) found that the overall use of wellness-based incentives among corporate employers continues to increase.
“Fidelity understands and is deeply committed to helping our employees lead healthy lifestyles, and to help them take advantage of the many benefits and services we offer in support of this,” said Jennifer Hanson, Senior Vice President, Benefits, at Fidelity Investments. “We are in the business of working with employers to create and drive meaningful benefits programs for their employees. It is only fitting that we would do the same for ours. We are thrilled to be recognized by the National Business Group on Health, and to share this honor with so many terrific companies.”
Fidelity’s health and wellness program, Well for Life, features a growing number of on-site resources to make it even easier for associates to strive for health and wellness, including healthy dining options, fitness centers, health and wellness centers, free health screenings and annual benefit fairs.
In addition, Fidelity offers market-leading health and wellness programs and benefits, including comprehensive health care plans, health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, and an incentive program that helps engage associates and their eligible dependents in healthy activities.
“We are proud to honor Fidelity Investment for its ongoing commitment to providing lifestyle improvement programs that encourage healthy lifestyles for their employees. Fidelity is among an elite group of organizations that are leading the way to promoting healthy workplaces and lifestyles,” said Helen Darling, President and CEO of the National Business Group on Health. “Fidelity and its management team should be proud of their commitment to their program and we congratulate them on receiving this award.”
